Wenatchee
Marathon
26.2 miles
It's time, Pam and I have trained and trained and trained.
WOW I couldn't believe after 6 months of training that the weekend is finally here.
Denny, I, Julie & Joel took off Thursday and headed over the mountains to Wenatchee.
Julie was going to run the half marathon but she found out that she is
having their 3rd baby in September.
"It's a girl"
I'm so excited to have another baby in the family to spoil.
I kinda felt a little special that even though she wasn't running that they
still packed up their whole family and crossed the mountains just to be there to
encourage and support us before, during and after our run.
I love all the support that this family gives each other.
Thursday just happened to be Julie's 32nd birthday.
So after we all got set up and had dinner, Bennett and I brought out the
cup-cake cake and ice-cream for his mom.
Friday felt good to just hang out and enjoy the day.
We hung out at camp for awhile then took a drive to Chelan. Their family goes
on vacation there every year. They stay at the state park and the park had taken
out some trees and changed some things around , and so they
wanted to see what they were in for on this year.
After seeing the camp ground we went to lunch,
The owner/waitress came over to take our order and said
"I'll start with grandpa" and looked at Denny.
I thought we were all going to die laughing. She felt so bad.
Then calls him "Jack" not sure where she came up with that.
Now we have all been calling Denny
"Grandpa Jack"
(which is funny because my grandpa was grandpa Jack)
After we got back to camp Pam and Paul got there.
Paul took Pam and I to pick up our packets.
Emily met us there to get her packet also. She was running the 1/2 marathon.
Julie's friend Shannon was also running the full marathon with us.
See the poster behind us.
We were all running in honor of the people that either lost
their lives or got hurt from the bombing of the Boston marathon the week before.
Everyone signed the banner and the organizers of the run were
going to mail it to the city of Boston.
Pam made all this ribbons for us to all wear in honor of the Boston marathon.
OMG!!!
It is officially real now...
Holy Shit!!
We are really going to do this.
We went back to camp and my brother Geoff and Christy
came over for dinner.
It was great getting to visit with them.
After dinner and everyone left, I went into the trailer and got all my
stuff ready for the next morning.
Yes I was really getting nervous.
The run officially started for the full marathon at 8:15 but the slower
runner/walker could start at 6:30 if they wanted to.
Oh YES I wanted to start at 6:30.
I knew it would take me about 6 to 6:30 hours for me to
finish and I wanted the finish line to still be open when I crossed.
Saturday morning my phone started going off with lots of text message
from everyone wishing me good luck.
Renee had texted me "no matter how tired you are after the run you call me."
She wanted to hear all about it.
She did her marathon the year she turned 40.
She broke her foot during the run and lost several toe nails.
My stomach was freaking out by now and I was really nervous.
I wasn't really nervous about the run I was more thinking about everything
I had been through in the past 6 months to get here was coming
to an end and I had reached my goal.
Not in a million years did I ever think that I would
ever be getting ready to start to run a full marathon, or even running at all.
But my day is here.
Pam, Paul, Julie and Denny all got up early to come and see me off.
There was about 50 other people that started at the same time I did.
They started the count down to the start and I started screaming. LOL
OMG here we go.
I took off like a shot. LOL
People kept going by me and saying "good job Teri"
The first couple of time I was thinking, how in the hell do they know my name?
I forgot I had that on my back.
After awhile when someone would say good job, or keep it up or
something to encourage me I would start to cry.
At about mile 10 the full marathon route met up with the half marathoner's.
It was nice to be running with people now.
I started watching for Matt Wyatt, he is a Farmers agent that was running the half.
Where I was at this point the half marathoner's were
doing a out and back, so people were running towards me.
I looked up at one point and saw this girl running towards me
with the same shirt that Renee has.
I thought to myself "Renee has that skirt,
Renee has a shirt like that, Renee has a hat like that."
It was Renee...
I burst into tears. She grabbed me and said "you've got this, keep going"
I thought people running next to me
thought that girl is going to throw-up, I was crying so hard.
Renee had come over to surprise me at the finish line,
I wasn't suppose to see her during the run.
I was running faster then she thought I would.
I couldn't believe that she would come all the way over to support me.
After I got myself to stop crying all I could think of was please
don't let her pass me because I will loss it again.
Matt then came running up behind me and gave me a big hug.
Yes I cried then too.
I was glad to get to the point where the half marathoner's
went across the bridge to the finish line,
but the full marathoner's had to go around the river again.
The route went through the RV park we were staying at.
When we ran through we got the see the best little cheerleaders cheering us on.
Annie and Bennett.
So cute.
Here is Emily finishing,
Great job Emily.
I think she got her personal best
2:06:24
She was 33rd out of 90 in her age group.
I DID IT!!
6:27:11
I was 6th out of 10 in my age group for the full.
I'M A MARATHONER!!
Me cheering her on..
Pam got me my 26.2 magnet for my car.
Julie was going to run the half marathon but she found out that she is
having their 3rd baby in September.

I felt really good.
My first several miles were really good.
I just turned my music on and got ready to enjoy this journey I was on.
I had already been on the road for 1.30 before
Emily started at 8 am and then
Pam and Shannon started their run at 8:15..
I looked at my watch and was excited to know that all of us were
on the road and that we were all in the middle of an
awesome goal that we had set for ourselves.
I remembered Renee telling me to enjoy every minute of it and I was.
Pam had made us signs to wear on our backs.
The first couple of time I was thinking, how in the hell do they know my name?
I forgot I had that on my back.

Here is Emily finishing,
Great job Emily.
I think she got her personal best
2:06:24
She was 33rd out of 90 in her age group.
Yes, the rest of us were still out running/walking.
I was on mile 18 and Shannon caught up to me.
I was hurting by then. I was pretty much walking all the time other then down hills.
You can't waste not running on a down hill.
After the run Shannon told me she died right after she passed me.
But she still kept running.
Shannon was trying to qualify for the Boston marathon.
She finished with a time of 3:42:28
She was 1st out of 17 in her age group.
That girl can run.
Great job Shannon.
After Shannon finished she and Emily had to wait a long time for Pam and I to finish.
With me starting so early this was the first time I wasn't the last
person in my group to cross the finish line.
I was pretty excited to be able to watch Pam finish, but I had to first finish.
I remember getting to the 23rd mile and thinking I AM NEVER going to do this again.
I was really tired and ready to be done.
I remember getting to the 23rd mile and thinking I AM NEVER going to do this again.
I was really tired and ready to be done.
I finally got to where I could see the bridge that I had to run up and over to the finish line,
It felt like I was never going to get there.
I came around a small corner and Renee and Matt were standing there rooting me on.
They each grabbed a side of me and made me jog the rest of the way to the finish line.
I kept telling them to slow down. LOL
We got onto the bridge and they both let go of me and told me to finish strong.
Well that wasn't going to happen when
I was still running uphill, so Matt grabbed me and said
"OK I will pull you to the top" LOL
He did then from the top I ran all the way cross the finish line.
I DID IT!!
6:27:11
I was 6th out of 10 in my age group for the full.
I'M A MARATHONER!!
My brother Geoff and his wife Christy
Renee, Me & Matt
This was so cool that my cousin Ryan caught this moment.
"click on the link and read their story"
Here comes Pam
Her time was 5:24:57
She was 2nd out of 2 in her age group.
I love all the support that we had waiting for us to finish.
Denny and Paul of course, Geoff & Christy,
Ryan & Emily, Craig, Emily's mom Sally, Shannon.
After the run we all went to Sally and Dan's house for a BBQ.
It was so nice of them to open up their home to all of us.
I got Pam and I these shirts.
Denny got Pam and I each an awesome bracelet.
My body was so swollen that he could barley get it on me.
Paul had this photo frame made for Pam and I.
Pam got me my 26.2 magnet for my car.
I finish this goal.
No way 4 years ago did I ever think that I would have done what I have done.
I've done the STP Seattle to Portland 200 mile bike ride 3 times, 2 mini triathlon,
7- 1/2 marathons, several other events and now a full marathon.
I could never had done this without the support and love of my husband Denny.
THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU BABE... I LOVE YOU
And guess what? The training is over!!! LOL
This was the second most emotional event I have done.
The first most emotional was my first STP in 2010.
I just want to say THANK YOU to everyone who supported and rooted Pam and I on.
I have to say I'm so glad it is OVER.
Now my next goal it to do the STP again this year and focusing on becoming a faster runner.
